Inner Peace

Inner Peace is a reflective glass installation that explores balance, stillness, and emotional grounding through form, pattern, and material. The work is composed of a draped, cloth-like glass panel paired with a slender vertical figure, creating a quiet dialogue between body and garment, presence and protection.
The patterned surface draws from Akan and kente-inspired motifs, rendered in cooler tones of blue, green, and black. These colours evoke calm, depth, and contemplation, reinforcing the work’s meditative quality. The gentle folds and soft undulations of the glass imitate fabric, suggesting comfort and shelter, while the translucency allows light to pass through, symbolising clarity and release.
The smaller accompanying form reads as a symbolic human presence—upright, composed, and grounded—topped with a patterned element that suggests thought or spirit. Together, the elements speak to an inward journey: the process of finding calm amid movement, migration, and cultural negotiation. Inner Peace proposes that stillness is not the absence of struggle, but a state achieved through acceptance, memory, and connection to heritage.
