Transition series

The Transition Series explores movement, change, and cultural negotiation through layered glass surfaces that reference textile, architecture, and memory. The overlapping patterns—drawn from Akan and kente-inspired motifs—appear to slide into one another, creating a sense of shifting ground and in-between states. Colour blocks and linear marks suggest fragments of cloth, walls, or landscapes, as if multiple places and moments are compressed into a single plane.
Rendered in glass, the work captures light in ways that make the surface feel unstable—sometimes opaque, sometimes transparent—mirroring the experience of transition itself. This material choice reinforces themes of fragility and endurance, where identity is continually reshaped rather than fixed. The series reflects personal and collective journeys, particularly between Ghana and the UK, positioning transition not as loss, but as an active, ongoing process of becoming.
